EW DELHI: In a bid to alleviate the financial burden on households, especially women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a reduction of Rs 100 in cooking gas cylinder prices on International Women’s Day.

This comes a day after the government extended the subsidy of Rs 300 per LPG cylinder to poor women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year, starting April 1. Making the announcement, PM Modi said that this will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting ‘Nari Shakti’ (women power).
