Israel has launched missile strikes on Syria’s two main airports in Damascus and the northern city of Aleppo, causing significant damage and rendering them out of service, according to Syrian state media. The attacks were described as ‘simultaneous’ and resulted in the destruction of the landing strips at both airports, as reported by the state news agency SANA on Thursday.
No casualties were reported from the strikes, and Syrian air defenses were activated in response. The Israeli military, known for not commenting on its operations, has not released any immediate statement regarding the attacks.
This marks Israel’s first strikes on Syria since the recent major attack carried out by Hamas on Saturday. Israel has a history of targeting various sites in Syria, including its main airports, as part of efforts to disrupt Iranian supply lines.
